CSE & CSA & county lines
In this course, you will learn about child exploitation, criminal exploitation, and county lines. You will also explore contextual and transitional safeguarding, including the indicators and symptoms that signify and risk harms and hazards. You will also learn about who might be vulnerable, what types of exploitation they may be exposed to, and how wide-ranging the impact of exploitation is for children, young people, families, and communities. You will learn the difference between contact and non-contact abuse and indicators of abuse in different age groups. You will learn the laws against CSE. We will explore working with multi-agency partners to disrupt and respond to concerns about exploitation. You will also learn about the language associated with this topic.
By the end of the course, you will:
- Understanding more about CSE and CCE.
- Understanding what “county lines” are, including signs of activity.
- Knowing what actions to take if there are suspicions of gang involvement
- Recognizing the signs and indicators of exploitation
- Understanding the impact of child criminal exploitation on children, young people, and families
- Knowing what steps to take if suspicions arise about a child or young person being at risk
- Working together to disrupt exploitation, increase protective behaviours, and different prevention strategies
- Being curious, attuned around county lines and criminal exploitation with children and young people
- Knowing how to access support if there are concerns about a child in the community
- Identifying how children can be groomed and how it relates to exploitation
- Identify the barriers to engaging with young people who may be associated with gangs
- Understanding of the National Referral Mechanism (NRM)
